The last short we recorded before Spillane bought his Rebel T3i

Overdubs from last Saturday afternoon. Myself, Spillane, Davignon, Rutter, and McHugh sprinkled in. Holy Moly Trashcan.

Tonight, I recorded a cover of a Chuck Driver song. This song was originally written by the brilliant Chuck Berner. He’s seriously some sort of melodic genius. The song is so quirky and retarded I can’t even wrap my head around it. And then, sure enough, you find yourself singing it an hour later. I truly believe he’s some sort of idiot savant when it comes to melody like Daniel Johnston. 

I present: Whisper (2011)

Production note: Just for fun I tried side-chaining the hi-hat compressor to the kick drum bus (I find bussing out the kick drum sometimes gives it a little more pump). I was trying to achieve that ducking hi-hat sound like on the choruses of Phoenix’s “Lizstomania”. It came out pretty cool.. It’s not very prominent on the track simply because it got buried in synth. I got WAY into the synth.
